As an American married to a Filipina girl, I get to hear a lot of people opinions on interracial relationships and marriages in particular. The comments and questions I get range from snide remarks to other guys wanting to go to the Philipines. A lot of times questions are about money. The underlying theme is that western guys dating Filipina girls and marrying them are being taken for a ride financially or somehow exploiting poor women.

I almost always wake up with a smile on my face in the morning, not because my wife is Filipina, but because she is who she is and we love each other. I didn’t come to the Philipines looking for a wife, I went diving, but things ended up that way and I am happy they did. Now, a lot of my friends are curious about what it is like to live in Asia and Filipina dating.

I understand them. Asian women are exotic, feminine and sensual. They also come from a very different culture and I think a lot of guys find that appealing. It’s the way we men are born. We are attracted to feminine women, someone who needs our masculinity and strength like we need their feminine energy and love. That’s not a ‘fetish’ or ‘yellow fever’. Society has changed in the West and a lot og guys feel that changes have not all been for the better. As more women put on masculine roles in the workplace and in the private life, many seem to have adapted a masculine line of thought and even look. Asian women are different. Filipina girls for example do not want to be men in any way, quite the contrary.

That’s not the same as saying these women are weak or submissive. Most Asian women that I have met have been strong, opiniated and smart, but literally radiating femininty at the same time. Asian women want a man, so they treat their man like one! That’s a great feeling and that’s what will make you happy in your life.

To be honest, I wish I had discovered Filipina dating when I was younger. I did marry an American girl (and divorced her), but would I do it again if I knew now what I know? I am not sure.

If you do decide to look for an Asian girl, be prepared to be in a better financial position than she is. Don’t think that any questions about your job and such means that she is looking to take advantage of you. That’s a common mistake. Most girls in countries like Thailand or the Philippines couldn’t dream of taking a mans money unless they genuinly wanted to have a serious relationship. Stay out of the bars though. Very rarely do relationships with bar girls work.
